# 5 Tips for Organizing Auto Repair Shop Floor Plans

When it comes to running an independent auto shop, optimization is everything. One crucial step in optimizing your shop is ensuring your floor plan is as safe and functional as possible. Rethinking your auto repair shop floor plans might sound overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. Simply follow these tips from AutoVitals to create an effective new layout for your shop.
## 1. Consider Space Requirements

## 2. Measure and Map
Once you know roughly what layout changes you’d like to make, it may be tempting to get started right away. However, adjusting your floor plan without thinking ahead could cause serious difficulties. Before you get started, carefully measure your floor plan—and everything from heavy-duty equipment to individual toolboxes—to ensure everything will fit as intended.
